Martin Brandhøj Skov,
Innovation Manager

My name is Martin Brandhøj Skov and I am Innovation Manager in the research department at NMD Pharma.

I lead the innovation process at NMD Pharma by identifying, initiating, and integrating new research-projects for the organisation. I do this in part by facilitating idea generation and materialization of novel ideas into tangible assets that are in line with NMD Pharma’s strategy to become a world leading biotech company in neuromuscular disease. In addition, I also contribute to, and influence strategic direction for early innovation research projects to allow NMD Pharma to concentrate its excellent skills on successful projects. Lastly, I’m also responsible for scouting novel early-stage assets and gathering information on up-coming topics in the neuromuscular field.

Prior to joining NMD Pharma, I completed a PhD in skeletal muscle physiology at Aarhus University, Department of Biomedicine. Whilst completing my studies, I was particularly interested in the muscle physiology of Myotonia and Myotonic Dystrophy and the interplay between impaired and normal functioning ion channels for the target of disease alleviation. I authored/co-authored four scientific publications and was a visiting PhD scholar at the University of Rochester, in the state of New York. Before moving into innovation, I was  Senior Scientist at NMD Pharma for several years.

NMD pharma offers a unique working environment where the innovativeness of biotech meets the strength of academic tradition. Here we ask relevant questions about why we do what we do, so that we can move our technology towards the market, and patients. Patients are at the heart of what we do, and we ensure we constantly stay patient focused, developing the best treatment options and including patients early on in our projects.

At NMD Pharma knowledge sharing and idea generation is actively encouraged across teams and all levels of hierarchy. As a very Scandinavian company we have a flat structure of management with an open and welcoming attitude to new initiatives and new ways of working to improve what we already do well.
