Katja Krustrup Pedersen
Research Scientist and Project Manager

My name is Katja Krustrup Pedersen, and I am a Research Scientist and Project Manager in Non-Clinical Development at NMD Pharma. I have a wide variety of assignments here but my primary focus is on the safety programs which provides a fantastic mix of research and administrative opportunities.

Before joining NMD Pharma, I completed my Master and PhD on dynamic muscle function during muscular fatigue at Aarhus University, where I also had the opportunity to have a research stay at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.

Coincidentally, I first became interested in research in in vitro muscle studies after reading an article during my time in high school, which was published by the researcher who later became my supervisor, and it was a dream come true to learn from him. During my research over the years, I gained extensive experience conducting in vitro experiments, as well as writing manuscripts and presenting at conferences. This has given me invaluable insight into how muscles work, which is an advantage when designing and evaluating safety studies that support our clinical trials at NMD Pharma.

It has been a great pleasure to pursue my passion and participate in the exciting work at NMD Pharma. Everyone here is part of a bigger puzzle, therefore my job is varied and involves not only supporting the safety programs but also communicating across multidisciplinary teams – every day is different, and you are always learning new things. I am proud to know that we are making a difference by translating basic research in skeletal muscles into treatments for people suffering from neuromuscular diseases.

NMD Pharma has a supportive and open culture, with colleagues who share a combined goal of developing innovative treatments to help those with neuromuscular diseases live more independent lives. I appreciate the diverse backgrounds represented in our company and the solid network of encouraging mentors who help guide those early in their careers. As a working mother, I have found the environment at NMD Pharma along with my family to be supportive of my career and passion in this field and I am excited to continue our endeavors to improve the quality of life of patients with neuromuscular diseases.
